Scott Hannum is a third generation entrepreneur with a career as diverse as it is accomplished. Projects and the process of creating something from nothing became Scott’s passion as he went on to create and manage multiple small businesses, develop products, start clubs and facilitate nationally recognized events. Scott started a small manufacturing company specializing in equestrian related products and later adding items for the snowmobile industry. With that company up and running Scott pursued a long time interest in consulting and public speaking and started Hannum Development in ’96. Selling his manufacturing company in ’06, Scott now consults full time specializing in resource management topics and project methodology and is working on a book entitled: Purpose, Practices & People.

Seminar Description:
Present day economic conditions are forcing companies to re-examine the way they engineer software and how they address the mounting demand for services. Even companies who provide offshore services are facing competitive demands to drive down costs while accelerating deliver (without compromising quality). These challenges have caused us to revisit the topic of software reuse, a concept introduced in the late 1980s but fell out of vogue in the late 1990s.
Software reuse and the concept of software reuse factories involve a careful examination of current information technology collateral and the introduction of a software assembly line that recognizes opportunities for reuse elements.
This web seminar will convey a baseline of understanding about software reuse, the advantages as well as the challenges that companies may face, and how to overcome these obstacles with minimal impact. For companies providing outsource services the same conditions apply but you will face one more, the issue of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). IPR may appear to be a daunting obstacle but in fact may be a key to improving software development productivity that will benefit both buyer as well as service provider.
