Tom Belanger
Mr. Belanger has worked with management at all levels to provide consultation, documentation, and training in managing programs and projects since 1981. He has collaborated with executive and program management in new product development for high tech and aerospace programs, and in a corporate-wide IT program. He has written and edited program management methodology documentation.
Tom has collaborated with clients to improve the predictability of program and project schedules by developing and implementing project management methodology in several industries. These projects have typically included the development of project phases or stages, the selection of project management software, the creation of standard templates, and the composition of key documentation on project communications, change control, issue control and quality management. Tom revised project documents on Quality Function Deployment, Project Planning and Scheduling, Solution Performance Engineering, and several other documents for a Fortune 100 client.
Tom delivers program- and project-related training programs for clients in many industries including financial services, consumer products, high technology, industrial products, insurance, and education.
Mr. Belanger authored a chapter entitled "Choosing a Project Life Cycle", that is part of The Field Guide to Project Management, Edited by David I. Cleland, published by Van Nostrand Reinhold in August 1997, and co-authored another chapter entitled: "Another Look at Lifecycles" in the second edition, also edited by David I. Cleland, and published by Wiley & Sons, in 2004. He is the author of The Complete Planning Guide for Microsoft Project published by Butterworth Heinemann, 1997. How to Plan Any Project: A Guide for Teams, 2nd edition, which focuses on managing teams and projects, was published by the Sterling Planning Group in September 1995. It was a PMI© Best Seller from 1996-2003. Another book, Successful Project Management, also aims at improving project and team management, was published by the American Management Association in February 1995. He is also the author of scores of articles and columns on project management and related topics.
Mr. Belanger did his graduate work at Tufts University, Northeastern University, and Suffolk University, and earned his M.S. at Suffolk University. He is currently a member of the World Future Society, and is a Charter Member of the Central Massachusetts Chapter of the Project Management Institute.
