Hands-on WiFi Tuning and Troubleshooting
Optimize Wireless Networks
You will learn how to:
- Use a spectrum analyzer to detect sources of interference
- Identify and resolve“near/far” and“hidden node” problems
- Test and troubleshoot IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet including power injectors and Active Ethernet switches
- Capture 802.11 management, control and data frames to verify authentication, association and data transfer
- Troubleshoot a live WiFi network in the classroom, get a free Orinoco Classic Gold wireless Ethernet card to use in class and back at the office
- Identify and minimize co-channel and adjacent channel interference
- Use semi-directional and highly-directional antennas to shape coverage area
- Conduct performance testing & analysis
- Convert milliwatts to dBM, and calculate cable & connector loss, antenna gain, and free space loss
- Prepare your office environment for a wireless network deployment
- Establish throughput performance baselines for 802.11a/b/g
- Test the performance impact of Bluetooth and 802.11a/b/g
- Measure RSSI, Noise & SNR
- Use Ekahau Site Survey 2.1(tm) in class to conduct a Comprehensive Site Survey
